Know What's Below - Call Before You Dig!

Safe digging is everyone’s responsibility - and it begins with you!  Safe digging starts when you call Georgia 811.  By law, everyone - including homeowners - must contact Georgia 811 by using eRequest on or by dialing 811 or 1-800-282-7411 at least 48 hours before beginning any mechanical digging on your property.  You can call Georgia 811 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, excluding holidays.  There are thousands of dig-in damage incidents in the U.S. every year.  Striking an underground pipeline may lead to expensive fines, serious injury or death.  If you are unsure as to whether you should notify GA 811 before you break ground, remember, even if your digging project is small, it’s always best to call!

Did you know?  You must contact 811 if you plan to:

-Plant a tree

-Install a fence

-Put in a retainer wall

-Anchor a swing set

-Remove tree roots or stumps

-Dig a hole for a mailbox

-Drive in landscaping stakes

-And much more...
