Yard Waste Guidelines

Yard Waste Guidelines

  • Yard waste that will be collected includes clipping, leaves, pine straw, pinecones, and limbs. The City will not collect stumps or logs over 10 inches in diameter. The City also will not pick up processed materials or cross ties.
  • Yard waste should be placed in one pile instead of wind row type piles.
  • Piles should not be placed under tree limbs or power lines or near objects such as mailboxes or parked cars.
  • Piles must be free of paper, cans, plastic or plastic bags, and other types of residue. Please do not place yard waste in plastic bags.
  • Piles larger than one truck load will not be collected. The owner is responsible for paying to have those piles removed.
  • Large piles of waste generated by contractors, such as a landscaping company or tree surgeon, will not be collected. It is the owner’s responsibility to arrange with the contractor to remove these larger piles.
  • Limbs and small trees shorter than 10 feet in length do not have to be cut into smaller lengths. A grapple loader is more efficient at picking up lengths no longer than 3 feet.
  • Please do not place yard waste in the street.
  • Do not put yard debris in front of an abandoned house. These houses do not get service from the city.
  • Please do not mix yard waste in with bulk items. Make sure yard waste is in its own pile away from the bulk items.
