About the Planning Commission
The City of Waynesboro Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Each Member serves a three-year term and may not hold any other elected or appointed public office except that they may also be a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. If an application is received the Planning Commission will schedule a meeting. Scheduled meetings are normally held at City Hall on the third Thursday of the month at 5:30 pm.
Major Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of the Planning Commission include:
- Review and approval of residential, commercial and industrial group developments
- Recommend to the City Council approval or disapproval of all amendments to the Land Use Plan
- Recommend to the Zoning Board of Appeals / Adjustments, approval or disapproval on all variances and conditional use permit applications
- Recommend to the City Council approval or disapproval of all requests for zoning changes
