Goals & Responsibilities of Public Works
The Public Works Department’s goal is to maintain and improve the city of Waynesboro’s infrastructure by providing essential services that promote and protect the health, safety, and property of its residents. The Department is divided into four smaller departments:
- Beautification / Cemetery - The Beautification / Cemetery Department cleans and beautifies the right-of-ways, city parks, downtown areas, and the Magnolia, Confederate, and Pines Cemeteries.
- Maintenance - The Maintenance Department is responsible for the maintenance of the city fleet and equipment.
- Solid Waste - The Solid Waste Department picks-up household garbage in poly-karts, dumpsters, and yard waste.
- Street - The Street Department repairs, maintains, and installs storm drains, sidewalks and city streets.
